Evanston Real Estate Calgary
Evanston is a community set at the northern edge of Calgary. It is a newer community, established in 2003. Evanston is perfect for those who want to be closer to nature, as there are plenty of parks and open spaces in the area and plenty of space for the kids to play.
This prairie-inspired community has a small-town feel to it, so that you can still feel like you are enjoying the best of a more remote and relaxed lifestyle while still being easily connected to the rest of the city with quick access to Stoney Trail and Deerfoot Trail.
Currently the community is home to around 4,500 people, but that number is growing as development continues both in Evanston and in the surrounding area.
Shopping for residents of Evanston would typically take place at the Beddington Town Center nearby, but there are many shopping centers, and the ring road which bounds the community to the south can take residents anywhere in the city that they need to go.
Because the community is so young, it doesn’t yet have a community centre, but a strong sense of community is already forming among the residents, who recognize the area as a terrific place for a young family to buy a move-up home and be part of Calgary’s great suburban lifestyle.
For those who value their recreation, there are plenty of pathways through Evanston, many of them falling alongside the West Nose Creek which winds through the south end of the neighborhood and provides an excellent setting for an afternoon or evening walk. Evanston is also close to Nose Hill Park, one of North America’s largest municipal parks, where walkers, joggers or cyclists can enjoy all 11 sq. km of the truly spectacular urban retreat.
Though Evanston has no schools directly within its community limits, there are plenty of excellent schools nearby, including public, private and separate schools.
Homes in Evanston are mostly detached single family dwellings. In 2010 over 100 homes were sold in the area, for an average price of around $400,000. There are starter homes in the community that will sell for less, and a very small number of condominiums, which might sell for around $200,000.
